sfjcf  > LGBT > Jews March for Pride! San Francisco Pride Parade 2009!
Inspired by our core Jewish value that every human being is created betzelem elohim, in the image of the divine, the Bay Area Jewish community organized to march in San Francisco's Annual Pride Parade Sunday, June 28. These are a few of our photos.

Together our contingent featured the overarching message: we are the Jewish community; we are diverse; we overwhelmingly support marriage equality. 600 people (including over 60 Jewish groups & over 20 Rabbi's) joined us for the 1.5 mile march down market street ending at Civic Center.

Thank you to Dr. Rita Alfonzo for being our volunteer professional photographer for the day, http://tinyurl.com/MorePridePhotos and to the Eckstein family owners of the Beale Street Bar and Grill where we enjoyed a Kosher breakfast before the march.

Additionally, thank you, thank you, thank you: Rabbi James Brandt, Rabbi Sydney Mintz, Rachel Biale, Margee Churchon, Paul Cohn, Jacob Goldstein, Karen Bluestone, Kol Tzedek, JCRC, Carrie Rice, Progressive Jewish Alliance, Joy Powers, Ken Kramarz, Rabbi Doug Kahn, Congregation Sha'ar Zahav, Eytan Elterman, Congregation Rodef Shalom, Susan Krauss, Temple Sinai of Oakland, Congregation Emanu-El, Roxanne Cohen, Denise Ron, Maxine Epstein, Jessica Trubowitch, Kim Carter, Jasmine Blanchard, Mike Yaminsky, Lital Carmel, Roberta Brooks, Meryl Klein, Judith Shmueli, Jacob & Jeremy Elliott, Sister Shameless, Marty and Meagan Fox, Marty Rawlings-Fein, Rabbi Marv Goodman, Dr. Donny Inbar, Nancy Brunn, Vanessa Eissman, Lynne Belmont… trust us, it took the whole community to get us together and this is only the partial list. Thank you!

This group has been furthering Temple Sinai’s mission of being a welcoming and inclusive congregation for all – including lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning Jews, along with their families, friends, and allies for a decade. To foster an LGBT East Bay Jewish community they host Shabbat potluck dinners, organize a group outing to the Jewish Film Festival, and host a Chanukah party in a member’s home. They are also involved in shaping Reform Jewish education so that it develops and awareness of the full variety of family structures and relevance of life cycle events to LGBT Jews. Out & About events are open to the entire Bay Area Jewish community – you don’t have to be a member of Temple Sinai to join us for any of our events.
